There are gorgeous cabbages in every bag this week – don’t forget to add some to your order if you don’t get a fixed bag. Cabbage is one of our most ancient veg – it’s been cultivated for longer than almost any other on record, originating in China some 6,000 years ago. It’s incredibly good for you, and as a bonus, it loves our Welsh weather (you should see them all in our fields at the moment – bumper crop!), so not only are you getting chemical-free, nutritious food, but you’re cutting your food miles to next to nothing, so you’re helping the planet, too.

Beautiful day at Swansea Marina market yesterday! Our customer there has a bounteous armful of beets, but behind those leaves is Alex (Banc’s grower extraordinare, for those of you who don’t know) – we did the market together. There are lots of markets that we would love to go to, but we do need a little help – if you, or anyone you know, is interested in volunteering on a stall in the local area (especially Cydweli), please do get in touch. It’s always so fulfilling going to these community markets, and you’ll get some veg to take home with you, too.
